A Rich Inheritance:

The most important thing you should know is this: At the moment you joined God’s family, you were reborn. Do you remember the story of how God created Adam? God breathed into him and Adam came alive. In the same way, God’s Spirit has brought you to life in a new way that means you will never be separated from your Father again (Ephesians 1:13-14). God’s Spirit lives in you, and that means you have some incredible benefits.

  • Talk to God anytime and from anywhere. That’s called prayer by means of God’s Spirit in you.
  • When you read God’s Word, His Spirit will be your teacher and guide!
  • When an enemy attacks you, God’s Spirit will fight for you and protect you.
  • God is with you in Spirit and in truth! Hebrews 13:5 says, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” That means you will never, ever be alone again!

Now, let’s learn about some of your new and amazing family benefits!

Family Phone Plan:

Talking to God is called prayer. Prayer is really a simple conversation.

When you pray, God hears you right away. Even though God’s family is big, God is bigger. He listens to you, and He cares about what you have on your mind.

His door is always open! God is never too busy, and He never ever turns anyone away.

Praying:

Depending on what you want to talk about, prayers have different names like worship, thanksgiving, confession, and supplication (asking).

Worship is telling God what He is worth to you. The more you get to know your Father, the more you will want to celebrate His goodness! For starters, He is faithful, kind, and patient. There is no end to that list! God calls us to worship Him, so we always remember and don’t doubt that He will take care of us.

Confession is accepting the blame for something you did. When we break God’s family rules, we get into trouble. God’s Spirit convicts you from the inside, and that guilt may make you want to stay far away. God is ready to forgive you immediately and to heal your hurts! Come to God anytime and in any situation, and He will help you. You don’t ever have to be afraid. Big or small, sin is all the same to God, and you are now His child. He already destroyed the power of sin, and He will help you to outgrow sinful habits too.

Say thanks! Giving thanks is being grateful. When you understand God’s goodness, that He makes everything work out for your good, you will overflow with gratitude. Remembering to be thankful helps keep your mind on what God is doing for you and not on the things that bring you down.

Ask God. Raise your hands if you need something! God is a good Father who lovingly takes care of His children. He will provide you with everything good for you while growing good things in you like love, joy, peace, and patience. God’s favorite thing to give you is wisdom. It’s like having access to God’s review of anything you want in your life. Why? Because God created only the best things for you. He can spot a fake a mile away! With wisdom, you can ask for the amazing things God has stored up for you. That’s a blessing!

Daily Manna:

Every day, God makes breakfast just for you! Reading the Bible is heavenly food for your heart, mind, and spirit! This spiritual breakfast will give you strength and wisdom for whatever your day holds.

Start the first moments of your day talking to God and spending time in His Word. It’s like thinking of someone you love and reading letters they wrote you. God knows you, and He wants you to know Him and His plan for your life.

Knowing and obeying God’s plan is called wisdom. God wants you to grow, learn, excel, and do great things with His wisdom!

Safety Drill:

Not everyone has God’s good intentions for you. Now that you are part of God’s family, you also have an enemy. God’s enemy will tempt you to disobey your Father because he does not want you to be happy.

God has an escape plan for that! In the event of a fire, run straight to God. God’s Spirit is too strong for any of the enemy’s fiery darts of temptation to doubt, disobey, or deny your Father. When you turn to God, His Spirit will help you overcome that temptation and show you a way out of your situation.

Family Time:

Now that you’re talking to God, it’s time for you to meet the rest of the family. You have brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all over the world! One day you will meet them all, but you can start with those close to you for now.

Becoming a part of a group of people who love God and want to serve Him together is a part of God’s plan for you. A family takes care of each other with God’s help. So, come into the fold and out of the cold! Ask God to lead you to a good church.

A Good Church:

  • Believes the whole Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
  • Shares the good news that God’s salvation through faith and not works. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Trust God’s Spirit who lives in you. He will give you a sense of peace in your heart. If anything doesn’t line up with what God’s Word says, God will guide you to a better place.
